James 1:5

But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all.

Questions for reflection and application:

  • What issues in my life and family seem just too big to resolve?
  • If I really believe that God will generously and graciously give the wisdom I need, what action can I pursue?

Thought for today:

How can we catch the vision of what God is doing? How can we see the purpose of trials in our lives? Ask God in faith believing that there is a higher wisdom in control. Abraham Lincoln during the desperate days of the American civil war said, “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.” Your human wisdom by itself is not enough for your needs today; trust God to give you divine wisdom. You may be confused about the immediate future, but you will see clearly your ultimate destination and the next step. Take that step with confidence. Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
