Scripture:Psalm 23: 6a

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”

Questions for reflection and application:

  • How is God demonstrating His goodness to you today ?
  • Who is in your life who could use a gentle reminder of God’s abiding love ?

Thought for today:

Benjamin Franklin may have believed “in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes,” but we sheep affirm what King David declared to be a settled fact: that goodness and mercy will follow us in every circumstance of every moment of our lives. Through the best and the worst of days we count on the goodness of God and his deep, abiding promise to sustain us. Goodness will always provide for our needs, and that word “mercy“ is one of the most blessed in all the Bible. It takes us right back to our relationship that is based upon the very name and eternal promise of God to always be our good shepherd. It is the language of a binding covenant or contract that God himself initiated and that he paid for through the sacrifice of his Son. No matter the difficulty, losses, or dangers you face, we canthank God for unfailing evidences of His blessing (goodness)and presence (mercy). It is sure: we are always and forever loved.
