Scripture:(James 1:18)
“By his own will he brought us into being through the word of truth, so that we should have first place among all his creatures.”

Questions for reflection and application:

  • If God brought me into being by his word of truth, what am I doing today to live that truth?
  • I am one of God’s gifts to others. How does he want me to be used for His glory today?

Thought for today:

Sometimes people say to someone who is just a little too self-important: “Who do you think you are? God’s gift to the world?” Yes, that is exactly who you are. Like a new mother or father, God delights in our birth. Why? “So that we should have first place among all his creatures.”God intends that we bring the same kind of joy to the world that the season’s first tomato gives to the gardener, or a new child brings to her family. Far from harassing us with temptations, God is using the circumstances and relationships of life to make us into the kind of creatures who will show his love to the rest of creation. God not only gives us his gifts, but also makes us his gifts to others. By the grace of God claim this day as an opportunity to accept all God gives and give all God asks.
